Cardboard Citizens will be delivering a writers’ project with the Museum of Home this quarter.

Writers’ Circle is a long-running twice monthly group session open to all Members with any level of expertise with creative writing. We aim to provide a safe environment where each is able to hone and/or develop writing skills through fun, interactive and sometimes thought-provoking activities to enable creativity to that inner voice we all have.

This is a very supportive group where peer-critique for each piece shared is given in a non-confronting manner. The workshops enable participants to share their creative writing, no matter the level of skill and encourages and validates each piece shared. Each session has a focus which is then practised in the session and sometimes discussed as a group.  Freeing the inner voice through this creative means allows for greater mental health and ability to better tolerate the isolated circumstances some of experience.

Museum of the Home

As part of this term’s Writers’ Circle events, Cardboard Citizens will be collaborating with the Museum of the Home to deliver a series of three workshops. The Museum of Home, based in neighbouring Shoreditch, hosts exhibitions and events exploring home and home life from 1600 – present day. These three workshops will explore the theme of loneliness, expanding on the work the Advanced Writers’ Circle group have been working on through Our world within this world.

The group will be a mixed group of Cardboard Citizens members and Museum of Home participants. We will have 20 places on offer: 10 places for Citz members and 10 for MOH participants.

At this moment in time, we are planning for the first session to happen on ZOOM, however, the other two sessions will either take place in person at the Museum of Home or on ZOOM depending on Government Guidelines.

Who are these workshops for?

The workshops are separated into two groups: the Advanced Museum of the Home sessions are for those who feel experienced with creative writing to focus on writing projects. The other – which can be found here – is for Members who want to try out writing and discover your writing skills.

Both workshop groups are for inducted Members of Cardboard Citizens only. If you are unsure whether you are a registered Member please email Bonny@cardboardcitizens.org.uk.
