This 12-week course will cover foundations in theatre making practice. Each term will be led by a new artist who will share their craft and support you to develop your own toolkit of theatre making skills.

The focus of each term will vary but across the year you will have the opportunity to explore acting, directing, movement and facilitation.

A twelve-week course which will investigate different elements of an actor’s practice with the aim of finding your own voice as an artist making theatre work:

  • Looking at different styles of work; text analysis, devised work, old plays, and new plays.
  • Learning how to self-direct yourself as an actor
  • Exploring how to use a diverse catalogue of playing, games, and warmups
  • Using what you bring into the room as your biggest strength and creating community
  • Fun, lively, and dynamic sessions.

What you will need:

  • A notebook and pen
  • Very small prep time between sessions
  • Clothes you don’t mind moving about it

Georgia Green is a director and writer. As director her work includes; Upcoming: Invisible (Bush Theatre), Ruckus (SUMMERHALL). As assistant/associate director: Emilia (LAMDA), Dirty Crusty (Yard Theatre), Amsterdam (ATC/Orange Tree Theatre, TR Plymouth), Out of WaterThe Double Dealer (Orange Tree Theatre), Zog (Rose Theatre Kingston/Freckle Productions/ Kneehigh).

She is also a mentor on the Writing MFA at Central, a reader for The Bruntwood, The Orange Tree.

Diyan Zora is an Iraqi-British director and writer. She was the recipient of the Genesis Future Directors Award in 2021, and directed Klippies at the Young Vic Theatre. She is a member of the Bush Theatre Emerging Writer’s Group.

As director, theatre includes: Tom Fool (Orange Tree) Klippies (Young Vic), The Suicide (East 15) Ms Y. (Young Vic); Gather Ye Rosebuds (Theatre503 and tour); Twelfth Night (Cockpit Theatre); Othello (Barons Court Theatre).

As Associate/assistant Director: LOVE (National Theatre & European Tour), Faith Hope and Charity (National Theatre); The Ferryman (Gielgud Theatre).

As Assistant Director: Fireworks (Royal Court); Evening at the Talkhouse (National Theatre).

Who are these workshops for?

These workshops are only for inducted Members of Cardboard Citizens London and beyond.

Spaces are limited. You will need to commit to all 12 sessions and if you miss more than 2 sessions consecutively you may be asked to give up your place.
