

Come and join Fran Lobo as we explore an introduction to singing and songwriting.
We will work on our voices, discuss songwriting and create some music, based on some stimulus.
If you play an instrument and can bring it to this session it would be great to know in advance! Please let the team know when you sign up.
This workshop is suitable for 16-25 year olds and open to all young people with lived experience of homelessness and or at risk of and poverty.

About Fran Lobo
Fran Lobo is a vocalist, songwriter, producer and composer from North East London via India. She is interested in exploring the human voice, classic songwriting and experimental production with a passion for personal and intimate storytelling.
Her work has been shown at the V&A, RA, Southbank Centre and Somerset House and has been acclaimed by publications from I-D to the Guardian, who said of her 2019 Voicescolourmotion sound and light installation at Snape Maltings/V&A Museum ‘Close harmony, buoyant and sonorous disintegrated into raw noise gradually finding recovery and serene release’.
In 2020 she released her acclaimed ‘Brave’ EP on Slowdance Records,a precursor to her stunning 2023 debut album ‘Burning It Feels Like’ which came out on Heavenly Recordings leading to her supporting Tricky on his European Tour.
She has worked extensively with choirs, notably in 2015 she conducted the Goldsmiths Vocal Ensemble for Floating Points’ Elaenia album launch at Islington Assembly Hall as well as working with choirs ‘Some Voices’ ‘LIPS’ ‘Southbank Big Sing’ ‘Roundhouse Choir’ & the choir with ‘Multi Story Orchestra’. She has been a frequent collaborator with Unkle (James Lavelle) and Deep Throat Choir as well as recently touring with Laura Groves and playing live with Coby Sey, Lucinda Chua, CJ Calderwood, Marc Pell and Akusmi.
As a passionate creative workshop leader she has she has created workshops for Roundhouse, Southbank Centre, The Albany, Spitalfields Music, Cardboard Citizens, Talawa Theatre Co., London Bubble, Multi-Story Orchestra, Creative Futures, Wigmore Hall, Royal College of Music and CD-R. She is currently a mentor and co leader on The Spitalfields Trainee Music Leader Scheme, helping to inspire new music leaders into this work.
