Here is the next in the series of audio recordings from the Resistance Theatre project.
Resistance Theatre is a body of work created by our Members. Over the past year a group have been coming together to write short plays about the housing crisis and record music inspired by these issues – thinking about what might be ahead and what can be done to help.
A recording from the series will be published each week on the website and you will be able to hear the whole series on soundcloud. The next in the series is Protest Anon written by Adar Owuna and performed by Cardboard Citizens Members (see a full list of credits below).
More about the play
The idea for Protest Anon came about after a session of the Resistance Theatre workshop/project that started to run at about May in 2021 with Terry O’Leary and Aliyah Forde…We had just ended that particular session by talking about a protest law that, apparently, had just started to be talked about in a bid to pass through parliament (a law which would take away certain rights of public protest gatherings).
My mind stayed on the subject for a bit, and I thought about the concept of having an actual protest company that gave/provided resource and some service towards various protest causes. A company that could mobilise and motivate people and communities to take protesting to another, perhaps even next level…in a fictional future (four to ten years from now) where a law has been passed which bans the use of audible voice, if there be any need to protest.
And so the concept of Protest Anon was conceived.
