We’re pleased to share that our Members have elected two new Member Representatives to the Board: Shahab Awad and Gordon Booker Jr. Their role is to make sure Members’ voices are heard in Board meetings, strategy sessions, and Member Forums – a space for members to learn more about how Citz is run, stay up to date, and share their experiences and feedback.

SHAHAB AWAD

Shahab is an actor and writer from Brixton with Sudanese and British heritage. He has lived experience of poverty, social inequity, chronic illness, and homelessness. As a Citz Member, he was recently seen in the More Than One Story short films series in partnership with The Big Issue, gdelivering a powerful performance in the closing monologue, This Is What It Means, written by Chris Sonnex.

Shahab Awad said: "Being a Member Rep is a chance to help more people experience the positive benefits I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy as a Member. I know first-hand what engaging with the staff, programmes, and workshops at Citz can bring, and I want to ensure more people in need get access."

GORDON BOOKER JR

Gordon has been a Member of Cardboard Citizens since 2010, taking part in courses, workshops, R&Ds, and Member Forums. He also runs the weekly Community Check-Ins, a space where Members can connect and share their work.
