On Sunday 26 April, thousands of runners will take to the streets of London for one of the world’s most iconic races – The London Marathon.  Among them is Cardboard Citizens Member Michael Quartey, who will be running 26.2 miles to raise funds for Citz in support of our creative programmes and Members.

Michael joined us in 2013, bringing with him experience across TV, theatre and film. In 2024, he starred in our More Than One Story film series, playing Terry in No Walls, Still Trapped, a short film exploring homelessness and the criminal justice system.

On why he’s chosen to run for Citz, Michael shared:

I’ve seen firsthand the impact the company has had on many individuals, as well as how they continue to support people who have faced hardship throughout their lives. I have also had the privilege to engage with staff behind the scenes and witness how hard they work for the company and its members. This experience has only strengthened my commitment to supporting their vital work.”

With a month to go, Michael has been following a dedicated training schedule to prepare for the 26.2 miles that await him on 26 April. Early mornings, long runs and steady progress are all part of the journey as he gets ready to take on the challenge.
