This two half-day documentary workshop introduces the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking using your mobile phone. Together, we’ll explore what makes a compelling story and how to tell the stories that matter most to you. You’ll learn the basics of conducting interviews and filming the shots needed to build a scene.

About Eleanor Mortimer

Eleanor Mortimer is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with a 15-year track record in crafting impactful, socially driven films. Her work brings together rigorous research, strong editorial vision, and a distinctive visual sensitivity to craft stories that challenge perceptions and deepen empathy and connection.

Eleanor is the director of the feature documentary How Deep Is Your Love (2025), described by POV as “a resonant dive into undersea mining and its consequences” and by Variety as “mischievous and transporting”. Eleanor’s independent short‑form work has screened widely on the international festival circuit.

Her film Territory screened at over fifty festivals, including Sundance Film Festival and Hot Docs, where it won Best Short Documentary. Her films have also appeared at major festivals such as Dok Leipzig, True/False, and CPH:DOX. Her work has been featured on notable digital platforms including New York Times Op Docs, Nowness, and Vimeo Staff Picks, with Territory receiving Staff Pick recognition.

Eleanor is a National Geographic Storytelling Fellow and graduate of the NFTS. In 2020 she founded Luna Films, an independent documentary production company established in 2021 as a home for collaborative, genre‑bending non‑fiction filmmaking.
