We’re so excited to share that Imogen Knight will be leading our next Citz Theatre Makers with guest artist Matthew Herbert…

Me We.

Kindness is often invisible and yet so deeply felt when we experience it.  An exploration of kindness and its impact on us as individuals and communities.  Over the course of this workshop series, we will explore ways of expressing kindness through story, movement and sound with imagination, honesty, creativity and joy!

About Imogen Knight

Imogen Knight is a movement director and artist working with the body in the form of choreography, connectivity and somatic movement.  She works across theatre, film and tv, classical and electronic music, performance and visual art, photography, and opera.

Imogen was movement coach on Chernobyl for HBO, which is currently the biggest BAFTA winning series to date. Imogen, Sarah Frankcom and Maxine Peake are co-founders of Music, Art, Activism, Theatre – MAAT and they regularly make ambitious, powerful and original large scale performance work for Manchester International Festival.   Imogen is the movement director for NYX – female trans nonbinary electronic drone choir. NYX looks to reshape the role of the traditional female choir, testing the limits of organic and synthetic modulation to explore the entire spectrum of collective female voice as an instrument.

About Matthew Herbert

Matthew Herbert is a leading composer and sound designer. His compositions have featured in theatre, film, television and video games! He has been commissioned by institutions such as the Royal Opera House, Manchester International Festival and Deutsche Grammophon to name just a few. His engagement with the arts is extensive working for art galleries and festivals, lecturing at universities such as Goldsmiths and Trinity and completing a PhD examining power and meaning in post-concrète music.

He has worked extensively in electronic music, from the early days of off-kilter micro house through big band experimentation to production work with artists such as Mica Levi, Roisin Murphy, The Invisible and frequent collaboration with Björk. His label Accidental Records has long been the vehicle for platforming similarly spirited music, while he still regularly connects with the immediate energetic exchange of DJing from Ibiza to Berlin to Glastonbury and beyond.
