In this workshop, stand up comedian Kai Samra will teach you the fundamentals of stand-up comedy, TV writing and how to pursue a career in the arts. The workshop will help you find quick ways of getting into a creative space, help you find your voice and take away some nerves. Kai will also talk about his own journey from homelessness, staying in a youth homeless shelter called Centrepoint, to establishing his own career in the field of comedy.
Together, you’ll explore how you can also establish your own journey in this field as well as tapping into your own emotional space when you enter gigs, auditions and writing rooms. This will include looking at personal preparation techniques, finding ways to feel comfortable in your own skin, and using your own idiosyncrasies to support your choices.
