We’re pleased to share that More Than One Story, our first venture into digital filmmaking, has been shortlisted for the Digital Content Award at Arts Council England’s Digital Culture Awards.

This recognition is important to us. While our work has traditionally focused on public theatre productions and community outreach, this project allowed us to use digital storytelling to reach new audiences and highlight underrepresented voices.

With More Than One Story, we set out to change the narrative of homelessness, whilst engaging diverse audiences. Through a nine-week multi-channel campaign, the films reached over 150,000 viewers—more than double our target. Of those surveyed, 88% said they had gained a greater awareness of homelessness and wanted to act. 48% of respondents had experienced homelessness themselves, reinforcing the need for stories that reflect real experiences.

With the constant barrage of horrifying news stories and shocking statistic, its easy to switch off and become numb to the reality of what’s happening in the UK. That’s why More Than One Story from Cardboard Citizens and Big Issue is so important. It highlights the stories behind the stats and acts as a very real reminder of the very real impact that all forms of homelessness have on so many of our lives

Natalie Moran, CEO Simon on The Streets

I have such huge admiration for the work Cardboard Citizens is doing to break down the stigma, shame and barriers that can face those who've experienced homelessness. It's something that has touched my own life, and I only wish I'd had a resource like this to turn to.
