On Thursday 4th June participants of the Speakeasy project performed a spoken word piece on stage at Platform, Islington as part of the Islington Word Festival. The story they performed is based on experiences the group shared with each other over three weeks of workshops at Cardboard Citizens HQ.
Speakeasy is the result of a collaboration between Cardboard Citizens and Lyrix Organix, working with a group of young people to overcome barriers to freedom of expression. This is part of Cardboard Citizens young person’s programme Act Now.
The programme is currently running drop-in workshops on Monday evenings. If you’re between 16-25, interested in being involved and have experience of homelessness or are NEET, get in touch with Effie, firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0207 377 8948.
