JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an organised and creative Freelance Youth Engagement Coordinator who has a passion for removing barriers for systemically marginalised young people to access our creative offer. This role will have knowledge and interest in youth homelessness and the positive impact of participatory arts processes. 

The ideal candidate will be an exemplary communicator and confident engaging with young people from a range of backgrounds, as well as a skilled multitasker with the ability to prioritise and get things done to ensure the space is well supported, inclusive and welcoming for young people.  

You will engage with us on a freelance basis to provide administrative, delivery and pastoral support for youth engagement across all our work at Cardboard Citizens, supporting young people with experience of homelessness, poverty and inequity to access both our young people’s programme, Cardboard Collective (our music and live events programme for 16- 30s), and the Workshop Programme (for all Members 18+, offering quality creative opportunities). 

We are seeking someone with:

  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or is willing to undertake a check) 
  • Excellent administrative / organisational skills, and evidence of project management support  
  • Proven ability to problem solves multi-task and work under pressure in a busy environment whilst remaining calm and reflective  
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently  
  • Experience of working directly with young people from underrepresented backgrounds  
  • Experience of coordinating creative activities with and for young people 
  • Experience providing pastoral support to young people in a one-to-one context  
  • Experience of working using safeguarding policies and in a boundaried / trauma informed manner   
  • Evidence of excellent communication / relationship management skills with stakeholders and partners relating to youth engagement
