On Saturday 16th May Cardboard Citizens hosted its biennial fundraising dinner which was hosted by our Ambassador, Kate Winslet, CBE. This year’s event, Open House, was held at the fantastic central London venue, The Brewery on Chiswell Street.

The evening was awash with colour as some of the talented Cardboard Citz members took to the stage to re-enact snippets of Ken Loach's renowned film Cathy Come Home. This film, which evoked compassion and awareness across the nation for the plight and prevalence of homelessness, celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.

With generous support from a wide variety of companies and sponsors the 200 guests in attendance had the exclusive opportunity to get their hands on some money can’t buy items, including Kate Winslet’s breath-taking floor length red Alexander McQueen dress and knuckle duster clutch bag.  With auctioneer support from the hugely talented Tom Best, who wields the gavel at Christies, the evening raised a staggering £180,000 in support of the work Cardboard Citizens does with homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless.

Thank you to all that attended and gave their support to help make this an evening to remember.
