Cardboard Citizens is working with writer-performer Eve Steele to tour her acclaimed one-person show Life By The Throat into hostels and prisons through March and April.

Life By The Throat tells the story of the main character James, as his life goes through encounters with the criminal justice system, poverty, violence and addiction. Eve Steele based the story on men she has known in her own life. Using humour, music, performance and storytelling, the play gives the audience an insight into James’ life.

★★★★ “An intense, dynamically performed production, well worth seeing” – The Observer
★★★★★ “Gripping… Eve Steele is phenomenal… A moving exploration of how our circumstances shape us.” – Three Weeks
★★★★ “Honest and deeply affecting.” – The Scotsman

The play will tour to hostels and prisons from 23 March to mid-April. If you are interested in booking a performance at a hostel, day centre, or prison, please fill out the form here or email jessie@cardboardcitizens.org.uk for more information.
