Life By The Throat tells the story of the main character James, as his life goes through encounters with the criminal justice system, poverty, violence and addiction. Writer/performer Eve Steele has based the story on men she has known in her own life. Using humour, music, performance and storytelling, the play gives the audience an insight into James’ life.
Audiences have called Life By The Throat “emotional”, “funny”, and “moving” - “a phenomenal piece of theatre” and “a powerful performance”. Eve Steele is a highly-skilled and experienced writer/performer, who was a regular on Coronation Street and has appeared on detective drama Scott & Bailey. Eve uses her own life experiences - including her interactions with the criminal justice system - to make theatre that is full of heart and truth.
